Market Study

With this device at your disposal, lets say you dropped your keys someday in a drain somewhere in the city. If you had tagged it using this tracker you can easily open up your application and go to the location where the beacon is being emitted and retrieve it.

In some other case, lets say you lost your baggage at the airport and someone else unknowingly mistook it as theirs. You can easily absolve this misunderstanding or track down the baggage if they already have left the airport. With one simple device this process will save you lots of time and effort.

This device can be used :

  • To track day-to-day articles (TV remote, Keys, Luggage, Electronic devices, Wallets)

  • To transmit a distress beacon for sending SOS signals.

  • To Locate stolen belongings.

  • On pets/ toddlers/ vulnerable senior citizens/ patients with Dementia (using Geo-Fencing).

  • Tracking a package or a container while being transported/shipped.

  • Locating vehicles inside huge and busy parking lots.

  • To find and retrieve weather balloons after they burst and fall on earth and recover the costly sensors attached to them.

Although this product is not the first location search product in this market riddled with bulky brick like car tracers to pesky untrustworthy chinese products with ratings delving below unity, the sheer practicality in the concept makes it stand apart. This product not only helps you find the place where the item is kept faster and more accurately, but also brings you more convenience. And in real life it is needed by many people, so it is quintessentially pragmatic.

The most relatable product that we could come across was Apple’s Airtags. The limitation can be found in this citation that is quoted from Apple’s airtag review: “An AirTag will essentially work anywhere in the world, providing that the AirTag’s Bluetooth signal can be detected by nearby Apple devices in the Find My network.” The range of the Bluetooth® connection is approximately 800 feet (250 meters). However, maximum communication range will vary depending on obstacles (person, metal, wall, etc.) or electromagnetic environment. This limitation makes the technology a bit obsolete.

Uses

Working

We  used miniature GPS module for each tag which will emit a positioning beacon which we can track using our Native standalone application with an accuracy within range of 3 metres and an effective radius across the globe. Each tracker will be given an unique code giving the access to track it only to the user who has authenticated its ownership/registered it. Each tracker can be labeled in the user’s plethora of trackers so that it has its unique identity depicting a certain article/item.

The GPS module is sending position data to node MCU. The node MCU is connected to the Internet using E Sim Module so it sending data to a Cloud Server. Now the user receives the position data via the server.

The Quito app not only shows the latitude & longitude data it also shows the real-time position on Google map. So the user can know the position of the GPS device from the anywhere in the world.

In this project we created a portable tracker device which can be used to tag any day-to-day articles which will save us from the hassle of searching and relocating the former in case if it gets misplaced/overlooked.

We thought of developing a lightweight, compact, inexpensive tracker which can be incorporated and used extensively in our daily lives. These small devices will give you the freedom and security to safeguard your belongings and keep track of them anywhere, anytime. With just one touch on your application you can easily locate anything that you’ve lost.
